This very solid Napa Valley Merlot is appealing on a number of levels, not the least of which is an affinity for food. It's extremely dry for a Napa red, with a slightly tart black cherry finish. The nose offers aromas of black currant, plum, cedar and spice, with excellent persistence and firm tannins. It is well balanced for the alcohol level (14.5) and holds the promise of a lovely evolution over the next two to three years. Great value in an everyday Napa Merlot! If anything I've slightly underrated it.
