Winemaker Notes
This deliciously bright and inviting Chardonnay offers layers of apricot, citrus and green apple, as well as hints of fresh honeysuckle and cinnamon. On the palate, the lovely pure fruit flavors are underscored by delicate acidity and a supple richness from sur lie aging.
The 2018 growing season began with a cool winter, and just enough rain to replenish the vineyards. A temperate spring followed by mild weather throughout the summer allowed the grapes to ripen at a very measured pace, something we love to see in our vineyards. After several years of early harvests, the relatively mild weather and a healthy sized crop led to a return to more normal harvest times. After enjoying abundant hangtime to fully ripen, the quality of the grapes was extremely impressive. Overall, our 2018 whites and Rosé show an ideal combination of lovely fruit-forward flavors and elegance, while the reds are lush and complex, with great color and concentration.

You can’t go wrong with a good quality Chardonnay, and the fruity/floral notes and very subtle hint of warm spice in Decoy’s Sonoma County Chardonnay is lovely! This wine is refreshing with a bright complexity, and it cuts through rich foods very well. It’s delicious paired with blue cheese, but I think it would also go nicely with buttery camembert or brie cheeses. During the holiday season (or anytime you’re having guests over), I think this wine would be a hit! It’s versatile enough to pair well with anything from a cheese board, to pasta, to roast turkey or chicken. And it’s unique enough to be special! Also, if you enjoy sipping a glass at the end of the day, this one is also perfect for a little “me time”. I really enjoyed the Decoy Sonoma County Chardonnay. It tastes great and is full of flavors. I had a glass right after getting home from work, along with some cheese and crackers. I personally think it’s a great white wine to enjoy in the evening, as an aperitif and also over dinner. If you like Chardonnay, this wine won’t disappoint! Chardonnay has always been my go to wine. I love the simplicity of the taste. You know exactly what you're getting when you open a bottle of Chardonnay. When I come home from work, I get in my pj's, I kick my feet up and end my night enjoy the warmth of a wine like Decoy Sonoma County Chardonnay. I love how light it is, not overwhelming at all. It's perfect just to have alone and unwind with. I highly recommend trying this wine. I don't think you'll be disappointed at all.
