SOURCED
WITH INTENT

In 2012, Decoy took a decisive step forward by acquiring Ridgeline Vineyard and laying the foundation for our estate program in Sonoma and Alexander Valley. What began as a long-held ambition became a catalyst for what came next.

Ridgeline’s structured, Bordeaux-varietal fruit now plays a defining role across our Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Red Blend. More than a place, this vineyard represents our belief that progress starts at the source, and that investing in estate vineyards is how we continue to push quality forward and unlock what’s possible.

Looming high above Alexander Valley at the north end of the Mayacamas mountain range, Ridgeline primarily consists of Cabernet Sauvignon and the other Bordeaux red grapes.

RIDGELINE VINEYARD

Located about 90 miles north of San Francisco, Ridgeline Vineyard sits high on Oak Mountain in Sonoma County’s Alexander Valley AVA—one of the region’s best areas for growing Bordeaux grape varieties. The property climbs the mountainside with 44 distinct hillside blocks, each with its own mix of soils and elevations (up to nearly 2,000 feet).

Ridgeline is planted primarily to Cabernet Sauvignon along with other Bordeaux red varieties, which thrive in the site’s elevation, diverse soils, and warm Alexander Valley climate.

BROWNELL VINEYARD

In 2013, we also acquired another spectacular Alexander Valley Estate property, the Brownell Vineyard. Offering an ideal counterpoint to the mountain fruit of Ridgeline, Brownell is a beautiful valley-floor vineyard with ancient gravel and sand alluvial soils.

Located in the heart of the valley, Brownell was planted in the early 2000s and features 10 acres of exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon. In this warm mid-valley location, the fruit gets beautifully ripe, adding richness and depth to our Decoy Cabernet Sauvignon.
